About the Job

The National Access Manager (NAM) is responsible for securing and maintaining formulary access with national and regional commercial payers, Medicare, and Medicaid for client’s biologic portfolio. Reporting to the Senior Director, Market Access and Reimbursement, the NAM ensures optimal product placement, contracting, and reimbursement, supporting post-launch product success. This field-based role requires deep national and regional payer expertise, strategic collaboration, and a commitment to serving patients.

Duties/Responsibilities

Account Strategy and Relationship Management

  • Develops and maintains strong relationships with payer functions (pharmacy, trade, medical, care management)
  • Designs and executes cross-functional account strategies, prioritizing opportunities to maximize impact
  • Proactively identifies and addresses payer-specific challenges impacting company objectives

Contracting and Reimbursement

  • Manages the full account contracting cycle, ensuring accuracy in terms (rebates, fees, payment terms, formulary position, etc.)
  • Monitors contract performance and adapts strategies as necessary
  • Enhances patient access through effective drug policy criteria for rare disease products

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Works with Market Access, HEOR/RWE, Medical Affairs, Pricing, Marketing, Patient Services, and Sales teams to build strategic plans and pull-through activities
  • Shares insights with internal stakeholders, contributing to the overall success of the Market Access team

Market Insights and Compliance

  • Stays informed about payer landscape changes and provides expertise to leadership
  • Ensures all activities comply with healthcare laws and industry standards

Additional Responsibilities

  • Uses and is compliant with required company systems and adheres to best practices and standard operation procedures as trained
  • Ensures all direct reports are knowledgeable and compliant with all internal standard operating procedures, processes, and administrative requirements
  • Given the nature of the work, at times be asked to be flexible and to offer extended support outside of normal working hours to meet business needs. This may also include weekend work
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Proven success in medical benefit contracting and formulary placement for rare/orphan diseases; immunology, IVIG/plasma or oncology preferred
  • Must have strong and active relationships in place with national and regional payers
  • Strong negotiation, leadership, and relationship management skills
  • Expertise in medical benefit products andbuy-and-bill reimbursement models
  • Exceptional analytical, communication, and project management skills
  • Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with a results-driven mindset

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 10-15 years of biotech/pharma experience, with a focus on managed care, payer accounts, rare disease products

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to travel up to 60% for payer meetings, conferences, and trade events (e.g., PCMA, AMCP, ASEMBIA)
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
